Rahel Kesselring is an artist, scenographer and cultural researcher with a focus on site-specific settings. Rahel is working in the field of installation and performance art and is currently especially interested in processual artistic practices as well as raw materials and non-human agency.

She has been working in various collaborations within a European context, i.a. for steirischen herbst, Frankfurter Positionen, Maerzmusik Berlin, Wien Modern, far° Festival Nyon and implantieren Festival Frankfurt, Ashkal Alwan Beirut, Alte Fabrik Rapperswil, Mousonturm Frankfurt, Kaserne Basel, Gessnerallee Zurich, Dampfzentrale Bern.

Rahel is a research associate and PhD candidate at the Cluster of Excellence »Matters of Activity« (https://www.matters-of-activity.de/en/) as well as at the Department of Cultural History and Theory (https://www.culture.hu-berlin.de/de/forschung), both at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. In her PhD she investigates concepts and site-specific artistic implementations of ›repair‹, ›regeneration‹ and ›renaturation‹ within forest ecosystems in works of contemporary art at the interface between plant studies, art and cultural theory. She studied Applied Theater Studies in Giessen (D) and scenography in Basel and Vienna. Most recently she worked as a research associate and lecturer at Zurich University of the Arts.
